What contractors in Canada: Ontario, BC & Saskatchewan are up against
Canada works a little differently from our US markets. Google Local Services Ads are available only for certain service categories, so in Canada we build every plan on the channels that work for any trade: a complete, well-managed Google Business Profile, accurate local directories, service pages that rank, and content that AI search tools can cite. Where Google offers Local Services Ads for your category and area, we add them on top.
Ontario and British Columbia also regulate the trades closely. Electrical work in Ontario is limited to licensed electrical contractors, gas work to registered fuels contractors, and plumbing and air conditioning are compulsory trades, while BC requires permits and licensed contractors for most electrical and gas work. Add older housing in Toronto, heavy rain and basement flooding in both provinces, and a slower population picture after years of record growth, and each trade has a local story worth telling well.

Questions
Contractor marketing in Canada: Ontario, BC & Saskatchewan, answered
- Does Real Time Marketing work with contractors in Canada?
- Yes. We work with home service contractors in Toronto, Hamilton, Georgetown, Vancouver, Maple Ridge and elsewhere in Ontario, BC and Saskatchewan. We run Google Business Profile management, local SEO, AI search visibility and paid search, and add Local Services Ads where Google offers them for your category and area.
- Are Google Local Services Ads available for Canadian contractors?
- In some categories and areas. Google says Local Services Ads are available only for certain service categories and directs businesses to check eligibility for their area, and its help pages list features such as review requests as available in the US and Canada. We check your category before planning any budget around it.
- What marketing works best for contractors in Canada?
- A strong Google Business Profile and local SEO work for every trade, whether or not Local Services Ads are available in your category. Complete profiles, real job photos, steady reviews and service pages for each city you serve bring in calls, and the same pages help AI search tools cite your business.
- Do Canadian contractors need a license to advertise on Google?
- Your trade license matters more than the ad platform. Ontario allows only licensed electrical contractors to do electrical work and only registered fuels contractors to do fuels work, and BC requires licensed contractors for most electrical and gas work. Google's screening includes provincial license checks where they apply.
- What does Advanced LSA Max include for a Canadian contractor?
- Advanced LSA Max combines local directory set-up and Google Business Profile optimization, ongoing profile management, Local Services Ads plus Performance Max management, and lead call tracking with ROAS attribution. In Canada we lean on the profile, directory and tracking parts and add Local Services Ads only where Google offers them for your category.
